There she stood, on top of the highest mountain in Norevia, looking over her world. Standing on the edge, tempting faith to try it’s best at breaking what is already been torn apart.
At this point in time, silence was her only friend. Her problems seemed so meaningless when all she longed for was the melody nature played with the wind, breezing softly past her cold her perked ears and along the rest of her hurt soul soothing the pain.
She had been freed of the games he played with her heart. Yet, she did not feel free. More… Alone.
Freedom hadn’t been what held her constricted heart from beating, it was love. Or the lack of it.
She had always been free, roaming this breathtaking land by herself in her younger years when he found her.
Walls high and defenses raised, all hidden by the great façade she showed to the world to hide the black shadows that had clouded her vision. His heart was bigger than her defenses, effortlessly breaking through the layers and curing past pains.
From that moment the noble chestnut stallion traveled with the young filly, protecting her and teaching her everything he knew. He became the only family she knew, guiding her out of the dark, more important than anything to her.
She realized not only had he saved her, from the beginning and countless times after that, but she now understood this unspoken bond called love.
Then he disappeared, without notice. Causing her to come crashing down.
This vulnerability of hers span out of control, the pushed all the friends she had made on their travels away and withdrew into the pain the felt. But she carried on.
Like she always did.
Once again roaming the land by herself, seeking to find herself. To chase away this numbness and if she wasn’t going to find him she would at least try to feel again.
Then Alejandro came along, the very reason she was now stood at the top of this mountain, by herself again.
Their friendship grew into something more, but this dark brown pelted stallion was not ready to break his façade to his family and admit to love.
She was the only one to see the other side of him. He had always treated her like his mate, even before he asked her to be his secretly.
She felt alive again when they were alone together, out of the way of the other horses that caused Alejandro to act differently all because of pride.
She let herself fall into love completely but he didn’t catch her.
He left her to join his sister and rule their father’s herd.
A herd where there was no place for Noelle, a herd that looked down on anyone that came from the north of Norevia…
So there she stood. Now other problems had taken up the place in her mind that was reserved for him. She didn’t care anymore about them.
Despite the problems, at this great height she could only think of the great friends she had made on her travels away from Norevia after he had left her. All the friends that supported her, no matter what.
The love from the friends she had gained collectively consoled all her worries and filled the hole left by the demons Noelle had chased away.
“Take your best shot” She challenged fate as she took a firm step backwards, away from the edge.
